SCHOOL INFO
Our centre is located in the middle of a very rural area; we accomplish a task of providing secondary
education for about 120-130 students (11 to 18 years) coming from highly disseminated small villages. A majority of them come from Cortijos Nuevos, where the school is and the largest town, many others from about 10-12 settlements around come to the school by bus. Even though a few belong to families which can provide them the possibility of travelling and widening their formation with complementary activities, most of the students never or almost never leave their environment and don’t have the chance to practise leisure activities (financial issues, lack of facilities, distance to important towns or cultural offers, lack of interest…). Joining an Erasmus+ projet woul dallow us to open up our students'horizons and motivate them to braoden their culture and become more aware of their belonging to Europe. The grant would also allow us to implement activities we cannot afford for the moment and be able to go further in our school achievements. The crew is shaped by 23 teachers, more than a half being temporary so is quite difficult to undertake long term projects. Despite that, all teachers try their best to give the students the chance to develop personally, emotionally and artistically through travels, music lessons or sports. For instance, Foreign Languages teachers program every year a visit to Granada to attend a theater play in French; on February 28th (Andalusia regional day) they prepare a range of paintings, songs, recipes and shows (assisted by teachers from almost all disciplines -Geography, Music, Foreign Languages, Physical Education, Literature, Arts or History) to represent each one of our provinces that are gathered at the playground and that day doors are open for the community to come and participate. We also implemented last school year a Language Immersion in Hastings (UK) for one week, which was a new and very positive experience for the whole educative community. |
